Instagram is Shutting Down their API. Here’s What That Means for Timehop Users.

Meta recently announced changes to their API that allows users to see their Instagram content in other apps. Here is what that means for anyone who currently connects their Instagram account to Timehop.

Instagram is discontinuing the ability for users to see their content in Timehop by connecting their accounts.

What you need to do

Nothing! We’ll take care of everything for you. You will continue to see your Instagram memories for as long as it allows. When Instagram turns this off, we will remove your connection for you. Your Timehop will continue to work as normal.

Let Instagram know you want your content back

It is no longer possible to connect your account in Timehop settings and automatically see your Instagram memories. We’ll continue to ask for this feature, and you can let Instagram know that you want to be able to view your own content in other trusted apps.

  1. Open your Instagram app
  2. On your profile, tap > Help > Report a Problem
  3. You can send a message to Instagram asking them for Basic Display APIs that let you connect your account to Timehop.

Other ways to see your Instagram memories in Timehop

There are some ways to get around Instagram removing this functionality:

Save Instagram memories locally

  1. On your Instagram profile, tap on > Archive & Downloading
  2. Turn on Save original photos
  3. Turn on Save story to Camera Roll
  4. Your Instagram posts and stories will now save to your device and can be viewed in Timehop by connecting Local Photos.
